Updated2026-10-23 23:00 (1 hour ago)Flood - The river is flooding. Obstacles can be treacherous or deadly. The river should be avoided at this stage for casual trips and definitely for the inexperienced. Trips should be attempted only with protective gear and equipment.Flood(none)1932
Discharge140 cfs (median: 189 cfs)High - The river is high and potentially dangerous, especially for the young and / or inexperienced. Normal stream obstacles are sometimes difficult to navigate. Extended distances can be attempted, but canoe travel may not be advisable.High(none)1051
Height3.55 feetGood - Conditions are ideal for a canoe or kayak. Boats typically will drag on fewer than one-quarter of riffles, if at all, and portages are unnecessary or rare. Normal float lengths can be attempted without a problem.Good300586
TrendSteady (steady over 24 hours)Low - River is low but can still be floated. Some riffles are okay but most come with significant dragging and might need a portage. Float lengths should be reduced to accommodate low flow, dragging, and portages.Low(none)356
USGSExternal icon USGS Site (External icon Duck Duck Go Maps)Poor - River is too low to float comfortably. Most or all riffles will drag or must be portaged and some obstacles (such as slick shelf rock) cause undue problems. Avoid the river at this stage for casual paddling trips.Poor(none)189

On the river by 0930 on a warm (almost 90 degrees!), blustery, and cloudless Columbus Day and made it to Warren Bridge around 1700. Water visibility was very clear and the riffles were shallow and narrow due to the lack of rainfall over the past two months in the Ozarks. We had to make a few portages due to low water, but it wasn't a grueling float by any means. The southwest wind gusted pretty good in a few places, so some of the longer, deeper pools took some effort to paddle through. Fishing was hit-or-miss, with most fish caught in the current seams near structure and shade via finesse techniques and small shad / crawfish imitation moving baits. Quality of fish was not anything impressive in this stretch, with mostly 8-12" smallies, a few largemouth, and some Ozark bass sprinkled into the mix. We probably caught around 40-50 fish between the two of us. Dad and I both caught 15"-16" smallies right above Warren Bridge to end the day, which was a great way to end the trip. The river is also quite wide and shallow in a few places after the November 2024 Flood, so we much prefer to float further upstream where the creek is narrower, has a steeper gradient, and provides more fishable water per mile.On the river by 0930 on a warm (almost 90 degrees!), blustery, and cloudless Columbus Day and made it to Warren Bridge around 1700.
